In aircraft terms, the covering over a cockpit. In RC helicopter terms, it’s a lightweight plastic, fiberglass, or composite shell attached to the front of a pod and boom helicopter. Covering just the forward portion of the helicopter, and helping to keep such things as the batteries, electronics and avionics dust free, a canopy generally does not cover the whole frame of the model. It is attached to the frame by the use of canopy mounting grommets.

The canopy can be used to personalize the helicopter, and also helps enormously in determining its orientation while flying.
