Esky HoneyBee FP
Like most fixed pitch helicopters, it is reported to be very resilient to minor crashes, and thus an excellent introduction to single rotor helicopter aerodynamics.
While by default it comes with a rate mode gyro and brushed motor, often people modify them to use heading hold gyros and brushless motors once they move onto collective pitch helicopters and the FP is no longer their primary machine. The 4 in 1 controller on the VHF version can easily be split into a receiver part and a electronic speed controller/gyro part, making the conversion relatively easy.
