Radio system

The radio system are the parts at either end of the radio link: the transmitter and the receiver.

The transmitter and receiver need to be compatible with each other, and both tuned to the same radio channel (frequency).

Often a transmitter will be sold together with a suitable receiver; if not, then receivers can be bought afterwards, to allow a single transmitter to control a number of different models. Radio systems are often sold by the number of independent servos they can control, which is confusingly referred to an the number of channels the system supports; for example, the Futaba Field Force 8 supports 8 independent servo channels.
